Guided Bird Walk - January 10, 2026
This informative walking tour of the watershed will be led by Bob Jaroszewski. Possible sightings will include migratory winter ducks, eagles, herons, woodpeckers and more. Also learn about projects within the watershed, the history of the lake and see diverse wildlife. Admission is free, but we will be collecting donations for local food pantries so if you're able please bring a non-perishable food item. Dress for the elements and bring a pair of binoculars if you have them. We will meet in the parking lot behind the Wanamassa Firehouse on Wickapecko Drive. Walk will take place along North Wanamassa Drive. Possible drive to extension to check lake viewing areas by Colonial Terrace and Loch Arbor. To sign up, please email [email protected]

Through our members' generous contribution of time, energy, and funds, in 2019 we realized numerous accomplishments of benefit to Deal Lake including:
Through our members' generous contribution of time, energy, and funds, in 2019 we realized numerous accomplishments of benefit to Deal Lake including:
- Hosting a rain garden workshop
- Approval for the Wickapecko Lakeside Rain Garden Park
- Sponsoring guided nature tours
- Working with the Deal Lake Commission to remedy sediment and weed buildup
- Meeting with Senator Vin Gopal, Freeholder Tom Arnone, and other local officials to develop a plan to retrofit Deal Lake’s upstream basins.
- Helping Monmouth University establish a citizen-science water quality monitoring program.
- Submitted a proposal to NJDEP for funding to improve stormwater management and prevent harmful algal blooms in Deal Lake.
- Asbury Park Rotary Club selected DLWA as the nonprofit beneficiary of their 17th Annual Wine Tasting & Dinner Fundraiser - May 15, 2020. Stay tuned for more information!
